Initial Key Chains

Ooooooooooooohhhhhh so you know that I get on a swing and really can’t pull myself off, and how I swing higher and higher until I end up flipping over the top bar and come crashing to the ground? Or how I tell really long analogies and then forget what my original thought was supposed to be?

Well incase you were wondering yes I am still working on my star project but I have taken that one apart several times and started putting it back together but right now the whole thing just isn’t making me happy at all so I am just going to stuff it back into its large jar and let that one be.

But I have crafted together some charming initial key chains which are very lovely. Currently I only have the letters C, G, K, M, and V available. But they are ready to ship next day incase you maybe interested J. I sent out an M and a H to my lovely sister who made a purchase off my etsy site just last week and she even said she liked them. Thank you sister dear!!

So that’s really all I have going on this week, oh wait I have some new little vinyl key chains that I will post soon as well, that were created from my whimsical side.

Project Bag for Mom :)

So it has been a very slow posting week for me and I do apologize for that. I am happy to say that I have finished a project bag that my Mom had requested and although it almost cost me a sewing machine and a television (so I almost threw the sewing machine into the television) I am happy with the outcome of this little project bag.
This brown corduroy bag is accented with a really classy blue and green paisley print, which I adore and wish now that I had more of. There is a vinyl window on the front of the bag that is hand sewn together with a brown and blue rib border. The window holds the average index card and is suitable for labeling your project bag with the latest project. Clever huh? The bag holds several file folders or just one over stuffed file folder. There are two pink drawstring “hooks” on the inside of the bag if you decide you want to hang your file folder in the bag. There is also a small zipper pouch to hold pens or your most recent starbucks card. So check it out .. . . . .hope you like it Mom.

HappyCraftyholidays

o I know Christmas is no where to being near but I do know that I want to give hand made for the holidays. So this week I have started my hand made projects and although I have one fun project underway I am still trying to hunt down a couple more before the season gets away from me. I have found this dynamic site that has free embroidery initials and boy oh boy do I love them, and have already found a way to incorporate them into some of my creations. http://www.needlenthread.com/ is the site for initials.

Whilst hunting down ideas for my recent Gina project I stumbled across this amazing site with hand and machine embroidery ideas. http://www.urbanthreads.com/ and I had more fun on this site than I can stick a shake at, no no shake a stick at.

So if the holiday bug attacks you like it has me and you happen to come up with an idea that you just want to share. Send it my way, I would LOVE to see what you are up to, or get some ideas for myself. . Share and share alike?

My Etsy Mini

Stars Forming

STARS

So the star project I have started on forever ago is starting to come around. What you see to your lRight and left is a large jar full of hand cut, hand sewn stars in four different sizes, yes yes I have crafting problems that once I get my sites on one thing I just can't stop. I have decided that I am going to make a massive star cut out throw, blanket? Not sure which it will be since there will be holes in between stars. I am debating whether I should place a backing behind it or just let the holes be there. Suggestions or ideas? Leave me a comment I would love to hear what you think I should do.. Below is the start of the throw, with the smallest stars on the inside and working out to the larger stars on the outside.

I believe this will end up being massive as the inner stars measure 2.5 inches from point to point and pretty much are the same as the star key chains. There are either 30 smaller stars in the middle and I will count the second larger stars after I get them sewn on. This might just end up being a wall covering for my master bedroom, who knows I just want to share its progress with you.

Just making a Change

Well I have decided that I am going to try and be more dedicated to my blog and focusing more on my etsy shop http://www.justjen79.etsy.com/ in hopes to become more productive in that world.

I have just finished an awesome three passport set for a close friend of mine that I sold via etsy that I want to brag on. These three guys were a joy to make, I found some great hand embroidery patterns on Urbanthreads.com and went on a making a new set of passport covers for my site that I truly adore. Not that I don't adore the others but these have a new fresh angle to them and were a great joy to put together, I forget how weak my fingers are until I start putting passport covers together, the multiple layers of fabric and interfacing is a coupling of tough materials. Sadly I did break my very favorite needle, it was a thick eye needle with a snake like head on it and it kind of dug into the materials. It was one of those moments that you feel you should stop pushing so hard at an angle and I didn't, I just kept on and that horrible snap happened and my first thought was "don't get in a dogs eye" lucky it just stayed wedged in the last stitch and I pulled it, found a replacement needle that was no where as cool and kept on.

I also started on a "star"project about a month ago and have been getting a little side tracked ever since. It started out with the angle that they would make great pins for clothing or basic backpack decorations.

Then I caught a forum conversation about promo items for a give away package in California with http://brownies-vintage.com/ and I was thinking that sales have been slow and these stars are pretty addicting to make so why the heck not. I was able to throw about 20 of the little star key chains together. Which I had a lot of fun doing so I broke down and bought some key chain rings and put some up on the site to sell to the public for only $2.50 . These little guys are great though they are sweet and can attach to anythign a normal key ring would attach to. I get so many nice comments from my class mates on the one I have styling out on my backpack. Nice to show off what we hand makers can make and that not only can hand made items be fun to show off they show a little about who we are and at the least they are a conversation starter for the person standing next to you on the elevator that always stares blankly at the ceiling on the ride up to the third floor.

Well I guess I will let this be it for now. . . keep on.
