Lovely Diaper Bag

Ahhh. . . I love so much to make custom items for others! This latest lovely diaper bag was commissioned of me from a family friend via facebook, facebook! The fabrics were selected by the new Aunt-Sister in Law and she did an amazing job of picking out fabrics and they were even St. Jude fabrics which means part of the proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. How cool is that?

This bag was the same pattern as the one I had made for my lovely pregnant sister so I had at a little experience but as life goes once you do once the second is always a little better. I really adored these fabrics and the way they came together. I picked up a couple other remnants that went along and they added nice pocket, zipper, lining accents to the diaper bag. I think my favorite, and most time consuming part of this bag are all the hand sewn parts. There is a pink napped fleece S on one end of the bag, coordinating thread overlay sewing all over, and the bottom rectangle has all the red flowers outlined in red thread. The inner pockets have an accent ribbon loop for keys or what not, the ribbon came from my dear lovely Val who always thinks of me no matter where she goes (I love you Val!) and a coordinating zipper pull ribbon.

The stitching on the inside is pretty cool as well. The new lovely machine my mother purchased for me has these really cool stitch patterns as you can see on the inner pocket.

I also put together two lovely baby t-shirts to go along with this present. As you can see in the one photo. The S on the side of the bag coordinates with the S on one of the baby t-shirts. Both shirts have hand embroidered 2010 and the name Sallie in one form or the other. There will also be a lovely baby blanket with this set that will pull everything together.

So take a look at my latest project, leave me some comments and let me know what you think. If you would like your own custom diaper bag please email me and let me know I am more than happy to put one together for you. I purchase my fabrics at Hancock Fabrics so you can go online and select your own and I can pull it all together for you. Currently custom diaper bags take about 2-3 weeks to put together and including all materials cost $135, baby T-shirts are available for order via my etsy page www.HandMadeHappiness.etsy.com or you can also send me an email for additional information and they are $20 a piece.

Enjoy, happy crafting.
